Hosted critic-generator research agent that delivers structured synthesis reports from web search — no hallucination spiral, no context drift
Customer: Solo consultant or independent analyst (think: one-person strategy firm, freelance market researcher, PhD student doing lit review) who bills clients for research deliverables and spends 4–8 hours per report chasing sources and synthesizing
Problem: LLM-assisted research collapses on long-horizon tasks — single-agent loops hallucinate, drift off-topic, or recycle the same sources. Critic-generator architecture fixes this but requires infra most researchers can’t build
Pricing: saas-mrr — $800 MRR in 4 months (16 customers at $49/mo)
Why now
AgentDisCo and similar disentangled-agent papers just landed. LangGraph + Tavily make the stack buildable in days. Most RAG/search tools still use naive single-pass retrieval — architectural gap is real and visible to early adopters who follow agent research
Go-to-market
- Post a public demo video on Twitter/X showing side-by-side: naive GPT search vs critic-generator loop on a hard research question — target AI-adjacent research communities (#rstats, #llmops, Hacker News Show HN)
- DM 20 freelance consultants on LinkedIn who post about ‘desk research’ or ‘market analysis’ — offer free report in exchange for a 20-min feedback call
- Launch on Product Hunt with a free tier capped at 3 reports/month — converts lurkers and builds email list fast
- Write one technical post on how the AgentDisCo critic-generator loop works under the hood — post to LessWrong, Towards Data Science, personal blog — drives inbound from researchers who want to understand the architecture before trusting it
Moat (or lack thereof)
No moat. OpenAI, Perplexity, and every well-funded startup can replicate the architecture in a sprint. Defensibility comes entirely from distribution (trust with a niche audience) and iteration speed. The only real edge is staying tightly focused on long-form synthesis quality for a specific persona — don’t drift into generic search assistant territory
